Beware of Offenses: A Call to Unity and Grace

1–2 minutes

||Rhema for the Week||

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Offenses are inevitable in any community, including the Church. Jesus acknowledged this reality, saying, “It is impossible that no offenses should come…” (Luke 17:1, NKJV). When hurt by a fellow believer, it is tempting to withdraw, but leaving the Church due to one person’s mistake is like avoiding hospitals because of a doctor’s error. The Church, though imperfect, remains Christ’s body, and He is still at work within it.

A common deception is to generalize an offense, believing that all Christians are the same. This isolates us and makes us vulnerable. An individual’s failure does not represent Christ or His Church. Instead of harboring resentment, we are called to seek restoration. Scripture urges us to address issues directly and with love, ensuring that wounds do not fester into division.

Rather than pointing fingers, we must take responsibility for unity, keeping the bond of peace. Offenses will come, but they should lead us to reconciliation, not separation. In choosing grace and forgiveness, we reflect Christ’s love and preserve the strength of His Church.
