||Rhema for the Week||
And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. Exodus 25:8 KJV
In Exodus 25, God reveals to Moses the pattern for the sanctuary He desires to be built. However, before describing its structure, He first commands Moses to ask the Israelites to willingly offer the materials needed (Ex. 25:1-7). Though God could have provided these resources Himself, He chose to involve His people in the process.
In the New Testament, we understand that this sanctuary symbolizes our bodies. 1 Peter 2:5 tells us, “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house…” God longs to dwell within us, yet He requires us to willingly offer ourselves—our hearts, souls, minds, strength, and bodies—as the materials for His divine dwelling place.
D. L. Moody once said, “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him.”
When we surrender ourselves completely to God, His presence will fill us, just as His glory filled the completed sanctuary (Ex. 40:34). Offer yourself willingly to Him, and He will make you His dwelling place.
