||Rhema for the Week||
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
Whenever we read about the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land, we often feel frustrated by their repeated grumbling and disobedience to God, despite witnessing numerous miracles and wonders. But are we any better?
There is always a tendency to belittle what God has done when we lose focus on Him. The Israelites were frequently amazed by God’s miracles, yet soon after, their hearts and minds would turn back to Egypt. This reveals that something is always competing for our attention. That is why Paul admonishes us in Philippians 4:8 to focus only on what is true, pure, honest, lovely, just, and of good report.
How many times have we felt motivated and inspired to take action, only for that enthusiasm to fade over time due to distractions?
Let us be intentional about fixing our gaze on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, lest we be swayed by the distractions of this world.
