The full Gospel: Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus

2–3 minutes

Salvation 2025 | Day 6

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved… For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

While the historical and archaeological evidence surrounding the Bible and the person of Jesus Christ is more than sufficient to establish the truth of Christianity within any academic field, the aim of Scripture reaches far deeper. The biblical narrative is not merely a preserved record of sacred history; it is divine revelation. Its goal is not only to inform, but to transform. It does not ask us to admire a past figure, but to encounter a living Savior.

At the very heart of this gospel is a profound revelation: the mystery of death and life. These are not just the bookends of human experience. They are the twin realities that dominate both existence and eternity. Every worldview must confront the question of what lies beyond death and what gives meaning to life. In the gospel, God presents the answer in His Son. Jesus Christ did not simply pass through death as a martyr.

He entered it as the Lamb of God, bore its weight, broke its sting, and rose to declare His lordship over both realms. This is not an abstract doctrine but a living truth. Death is not final, and life is not random. Both now exist at the mercy of Jesus Christ. He has become the fixed point in time and eternity where judgment and mercy meet, where life conquers death, and where fallen humanity is offered reconciliation and resurrection.

To believe in the gospel is to believe that death has lost its mastery, and that life is no longer subject to decay without hope. The crucified Christ is the Savior of our souls, but the risen Christ is also the Lord of our destiny. The gospel invites us to live in this reality, standing firm not just on historical fact, but on the revealed truth that Christ died, Christ was buried, and Christ rose again according to the Scriptures.
