Salvation 2025 | Day 11
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
This emphasizes that salvation is a free gift from God, received through faith, and not earned through good works. It highlights that salvation is not based on human effort, but on God’s grace, so that no one can boast about their own merits. This is usually known and disputed in just a few circles but does not undermine this ultimate truth. What is usually missing in the piece is the phrase “through faith”. In Greek “dia pistis”. “Dia” here is a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act, sometimes denoting “after”.
We are saved “through faith”… meaning, we are saved “after” we have exhibited a certain level of faith. This I believe is true because usually the case, you have not seen this Jesus we are talking about. You did not live in the same era as him. It is your belief and testimony surrounding this Jesus (faith) that you hold onto with the assurance that this Jesus will be able to save you to the uttermost and he sure does.
You might not feel anything. Your height nor skin complexion will not change but salvation has happened. Believing is seeing! This act of faith is not blind trust, but a deep conviction born out of hearing the Word and being convicted by the Spirit. Faith becomes the bridge between the invisible promise and the visible transformation. The beauty of faith is that it places the responsibility for salvation on God’s ability and not man’s performance. By believing, we are simply responding to what God has already initiated. Our faith does not earn salvation; it receives it.
This is why even the weakest believer, with the smallest seed of faith, can be fully saved, not because their faith is strong, but because their Savior is. Faith is the channel, not the cause, of salvation. The cause is grace. Faith simply opens the door to receive what grace has already provided. So then, let every believer be assured that salvation is real, complete, and secure for all who come by faith
