Faith and Confession

Salvation 2025 | Day 12

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,” — II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” — Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

From the scriptures above, there is a strong correlation between “belief and confession” unto salvation. To wit, there is a strong connection between what we say and what we believe and how it all culminates into salvation.

In statistics, a strong correlation indicates a close relationship between two variables, meaning that when one variable changes, the other tends to change in a predictable way. Where variable A is belief and variable B is confession. A change in variable A (belief) relates to a change in variable B (confession). When there is an inward transformation, then the outward proclamation moves in line with what we say with our mouth.

From the evidence set out, it is therefore essential to make an open confession of what you believe. It is the only way that the cloud of witnesses will know what you have believed in; that is why the man or woman of God will ask you to say some words after them. It is not “works” as salvation is free. The process is a testament of what is within.

In statistics once again, it is worth noting that the strength of a correlation is measured by the correlation coefficient, which ranges from -1 to +1. Similarly, the strength of your integrity; how closely your beliefs align with what you say can be seen as your personal correlation coefficient. Where “-1” represents one who has neither confessed nor believed and “0” represents one who is in doubt of what exactly to believe and even say. As one moves across the spectrum and gets towards +1, the stronger and more authentic the connection between a person’s faith and confession.

It is important that we “say”, for it shows what we believe!
