Salvation 2025 | Day 19
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
(Colossians 2:6–7 KJV)
grafting, the scion must intricately connect to the rootstock until it fuses with it. It is after the fusion that the new branch receives full nourishment from the rootstock. Just as the scion and the rootstock become one, so is “he who sanctifies, and they who are sanctified of one.” Faith is not a one-time happening but a continuous life. Paul admonishes us to continue walking in Christ so that we may be rooted, built up, and established in the faith. All these words are emphasizing the need for fusion with Christ.
There is an unimaginable scope of the blessings that are in Christ and all these blessings are readily available for our access. In fact, Paul tells us that we have already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ. Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with His stripes we are healed. All these are our realities if we remain grafted in Him.
Also, the nourishment the branch receives is what makes it bear fruits. Jesus said that if we remain in Him, we shall bear much fruit, for without Him we can do nothing. When we were connected to the wild olive, we bore fruits of the flesh but when we are grafted and remain in Christ, we are now able to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
The evidence of our connection to Christ is the fruit we bear. Just as a good tree is known by the good fruits it produces, so is our source known by the fruits we produce. If we bear fruits of righteousness, then it means we are connected to Christ, but, if we bear fruits of the flesh and of ungodliness, then we cannot claim to be grafted in Christ.
Let us therefore make every effort to remain in Christ that we may partake of all the goodness and blessings He provides us.
