Salvation 2025 | Day 27
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” — John 3:5 (NKJV)
Another indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in the salvation of humanity is regeneration. He ALONE is the agency of this new birth. The scripture above reveals Jesus’ blueprint for entering the Kingdom of God, synonymous with ‘regeneration,’ rebirth,’ or ‘being born again.’ He gave this answer to Nicodemus, who sought to understand how one could be born again. This interaction reveals not only what being born again is but also what it is not.
First, regeneration is not a physical rebirth but a spiritual rebirth. Nicodemus wondered, “How can someone old be born again?” — viewing Jesus’ response from a biological lens, but Jesus was pointing to something far deeper: the inward transformation by the Spirit.
Second, regeneration is NOT just a religious experience, but a complete transformation. When we are born of the Spirit, we become new creations and not reformed sinners. This rebirth is not something we earn through morality or good deeds; it is a gift received through faith by the power of the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts, awakens our spirits, and gives us a new identity in Christ
Romans 8:9 reveals that being born of the Spirit means we now draw from a new source of life. The Holy Spirit makes us spiritually alive, and this new birth is the foundation of our salvation. Without it, no one can enter the Kingdom of God.
In a nutshell, if you are already saved, you are not just a better version of your past. Rather, you become a completely new person. Rather than returning to what Jesus has already delivered you from, live as someone reborn. Perhaps, you are still trying to “act Christian” without truly encountering the Spirit; it’s time to stop striving and start surrendering. You may not need another church service, but the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. It is not too late to ask Jesus to make you new. Let Him breathe new life into you today.
