Salvation 2025 | Day 28
“In Him you also… were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” — Ephesians 1:13–14 (NKJV)
One of the most beautiful gifts of salvation is not just that we are forgiven, but that we are sealed. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, a seal confirms, ratifies, or secures something. This means that when someone believes in Jesus and receives Him, the Holy Spirit marks, secures, and confirms them with a divine stamp of ownership. This is not symbolic; it is a spiritual reality.
In the ancient world, a seal signified authority, authenticity, and security. Kings sealed scrolls to show ownership and protection. Similarly, the Holy Spirit is God’s mark upon us; proof that we truly belong to Him. But He is not just a seal; He is also the guarantee (say, down payment) of our inheritance. In other words, the Holy Spirit is God’s way of saying, “There’s more to come; eternity awaits.”
Despite the above provision, sadly, many believers live in fear, wondering if their salvation will last. But Scripture teaches that salvation is not fragile. When we are sealed by the Spirit, our confidence rests not in our performance but in God’s faithfulness.
Yet many believers live in fear, wondering if their salvation will last. But scripture teaches that salvation is not fragile. When we are sealed by the Spirit, our confidence rests not in our performance, but in God’s faithfulnessThis verse of scripture calls believers to stop living like spiritual orphans. Believers have been sealed, claimed, and secured by the Lord! It is a deception to think their salvation is uncertain. The presence of the Holy Spirit is proof that God finishes what He starts. And perhaps, if you have wandered like the prodigal son, it is about time you came home, because the seal still holds. Jesus is faithful, and His faithfulness is your assurance that you are marked for eternity!
