Ishmael Neequaye

Ishmael Nii Amon Neequaye is a dedicated Christian and passionate educator from Jamestown, a historic suburb of Accra, Ghana. With deep spiritual roots, he has been actively involved in church ministry for several years, having served in various leadership roles at Calvary Baptist Church in Ghana and currently serving with the Church of Pentecost in the United States.

Academically, Ishmael holds a Bachelor of Education in Arts with a focus on English and Religion and Human Values, and a Master’s in Education in English from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is currently pursuing further graduate studies in English at Illinois State University in the United States, where he is also completing a certificate program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). His research interests include vocabulary studies, curriculum development, second language assessment, and teacher education.

With a professional teaching license from Ghana’s National Teaching Council, Ishmael brings nearly a decade of teaching experience across junior high, senior high, and tertiary levels. In the United States, he serves as an Instructor of Record in first-year composition at Illinois State University and works as an Assistant Consultant Mentor in the university’s Writing Program. His commitment to academic leadership extends into university governance, where he contributes to multiple graduate-level committees aimed at fostering inclusive student support and academic excellence. He is also active beyond the campus, serving as Co-Chair of the Higher Education Special Interest Group with Illinois TESOL and Bilingual Education and maintaining memberships with prominent associations such as AAAL and TESOL International.

Ishmael’s journey in ministry is marked by deep involvement in student-based Christian fellowships. He has served in key positions such as Bible Studies Coordinator, Prayer Secretary, and President of the National Union of Baptist Students in Ghana. In his current local assembly, PIWC Normal, he continues to serve faithfully in roles focused on evangelism, intercession, and administration.

At KOK, Ishmael plays an integral role as a writer, editor, and prayer leader. He is deeply passionate about mentoring young Christian academics, helping them discover their God-given purpose, maximize their potential, and walk boldly in their calling. Through the KOK hub, he seeks to create a space where faith, scholarship, and purpose align to impact lives for the Kingdom of God.
