How God Makes A Ruler In A Man

1–2 minutes

||Rhema for the Week||

“Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul… for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David… ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’” (Acts 13:21-22 ESV)

Scripture is intentional in its wording regarding the process that led to Israel’s kings. With Saul, God gave—but with David, He raised. It was disobedient for Israel to demand a king like the Gentiles, so God gave them what they wanted. Often, our desires lead to destruction. However, God had always planned to provide a ruler after His own heart. Jesus, the Messiah, would come from David’s lineage. David, a man after God’s own heart who obeyed him and delivered the people of Israel from many battles. He mastered character, mercy, love, intercession, service, and a deep intimacy with the Lord who called him.

Many prayers go unanswered because God knows they would harm us. When He raises a man, a people, or a generation, it is always to fulfill His will. The process may not be what we expect, but He is working for our good.

I beseech you therefore brethren to subject yourself to be raised by God, to be pruned and transformed so you can achieve your ordained purpose.
