Salvation 2025 | Day 14
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
The Christian life is lived in the beautiful, often challenging tension between the “already” and the “not yet.” When we put our faith in Christ, we are already saved, justified by grace through faith. The question lingers “why do I still fall short of God’s standards, was I saved at all?”, “I don’t think this race is possible”. “I won’t be any better”. Hey, wait! Read on!
Though salvation is instantaneous in its legal standing, it is also progressive in its sanctifying power. As we walk with Christ daily, we are being saved and transformed in character, thought, and behavior to reflect Christ more fully. Sanctification is not about striving to earn salvation but yielding to the Spirit’s work, learning obedience, and growing in holiness. It’s a journey that requires faith to remain steady even when we don’t feel “saved enough.”
That’s where grace meets perseverance. Proverbs 24:16 says, “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” Falling short doesn’t disqualify you from the process, it qualifies you to receive mercy again. Sanctification isn’t about never falling; it’s about always rising. The enemy seeks to condemn, but the Spirit convicts us unto restoration. Even Paul, the apostle, spoke of pressing on toward the goal, acknowledging he hadn’t yet arrived (Philippians 3:12-14). Our confidence is not in our perfection but in God’s faithfulness to finish what He started (Philippians 1:6).
This dual reality is a reminder to hold fast to faith. We are already citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20), yet we are also being prepared for that eternal reality. In this life, we will wrestle, repent, renew, and rise, but our foundation remains secure in Christ. So, don’t despair in the process. Embrace it. Faith is not only the door to salvation it’s also the path through which we are continually shaped, restored, and strengthened into the likeness of Christ. Hallelujah!!
